Detroit Tricentennial - 2001

cadillac.tif (566850 bytes)

Just a little under three hundred years ago, a French opportunist (visionary?), spending the King's money, directed a flotilla of canoes over 850 miles from Montreal to establish a trading post at "le d'etroit". Today, of course, all signs of this post are gone ... gobbled up or paved over by progress and the explosion of the auto industry. The celebration in 2001 will recognize the vision of Antoine Laumet, de la Mothe Cadillac.
